Borderless Arts TN was honored to be the guests at the Governor’s Residence on July 2.
The group started the day with a tour of the gardens as we learned fascinating facts about the many herbs and plants that live there.
Next, the group moved into the home. We learned about the lives of several past Governor’s, the origin of a special floor, connections to Elvis and much more.
We ventured back outdoors to meet with a naturalist from a state park and her special guest.
One of the main tenants of our organization is to use our talents to give back to others. Therefore, we were thrilled to be invited to assist with a project in which the participants stuffed backpacks for homeless children. The participants then wrote notes and made art which was also put into the backpacks.
Then it was back outdoors again to meet up with Special Operations. We learned about what this group does and were able to witness a dog in action. The group also was allowed to climb in the vehicle.
We had an unexpected surprise when the Governor showed up. The group was delighted that he was willing to spend a few moments with us and get some photos.
The day ended with the group having a lovely lunch and playing games on the lawn.
We cannot thank the Govenor and First Lady’s Staff enough for an absolutely perfect day!
