On April 24, Borderless Arts TN Teapot Diplomats will have a very special workshop with Jennie Harriman.

This workshops is a bit deeper than some of our workshops due to the fact that it is in remembrance of the Armenian Genocide. It will take place at 10am Central time via zoom. If you wish to attend, please let me know.

This project is supported by Mark and Niki Antonini

Here is some information that Jennie has provided to help prepare for this project:

  1. I will share the story of my Armenian great grampa traveling to the United States when he was 15, the arts in my family, and possibly a brief story I wrote. This will include a slideshow of photos. I will mention that most of his family died in the Armenian genocide, if you want to discuss that word ahead of time or after our Zoom time. April 24 is Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. Genocide is heavy, but I am focusing on the positive in celebrating my experiences with the Armenian side of my family.
  2. Students will make an Armenian Tree of Life based on the colors of the Armenian flag (red, blue, orange) using the collage method. They will use paper to make a trunk, branches, leaves and pomegranates.
  3. This is also an opportunity to work on family trees. Family trees are part of our stories. Unless we are indigenous to the United States, our ancestors came here from another country.
