The Borderless Arts Teapot Diplomat Visual arts program was in for a treat as astronaut Nicole Stott and her artist friend Maria Lanas visited us on Monday.
Nicole shared information on space and how art can be found in space. She also talked about the Space for Art Foundation. Maria worked with the participants in making watercolor art of space.
Morgan Rehnberg of the Sudekum Planetarium of the Adventure Science Center also joined us and discussed how art changes when it is created on a flat surface and then put into a planetarium dome.
Some of the art that was created during the evening will be shown at the Planetarium every day during the month of October. Selected pieces will be part of a show at in the dome of the Planetarium on Nov. 5 at 5:30pm.
Special thanks to Borderless Arts Board member Robbie Ammons for assisting with the travel for Nicole and Maria.
The Teapot Diplomat visual arts program is supported by Mark and Niki Antonini.
