BoumJun Bae, a 22 year old cellist from South Korea, will be performing at the Sumner Tourism, 2310 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066, on Saturday, July 13 at 6pm as a program of Borderless Arts Tennessee through special assistance from Gallatin resident, Eben Appleton. BoumJun Bae performed for events in Seoul, South Korea for “Teach North Korean Refugees”. The group is an all-volunteer NGO that teach North Korean refugees English in which Ms. Appleton is involved.
BoumJun Bae majored in music at Baekseok College of the Arts in Seoul, South Korea. His performances have included the Olympic Commemoration in Korea, at the Korean War Veterans Memorial Park in Washington DC, at Harvard University and for the United Nations in New York. He performs throughout South Korea at hospitals, universities, and numerous other functions.
“Borderless Arts Tennessee is honored to have the opportunity to showcase BoumJun Bae in Sumner County. We are deeply grateful to Eben Appleton as she is the force behind this visit. Ms. Appleton became associated with BoumJun Bae due to her work with the Teach North Korean Refugees program. Ms. Appleton approached Borderless Arts Tennessee because BoumJun Bae is a musician with an intellectual disability. This performance exemplifies what Borderless Arts TN is all about…..being borderless.”
The performance will also highlight Borderless Arts Tennessee’s Young Soloist winner, Drew Basham on keyboards.
The performances will be followed by a reception meet and greet to be able to meet both of the young artists. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.borderlessartstn.org.
