The Light the Lamp project of the Borderless Arts TN Teapot Diplomats came to a close last night as the participants completed their lamps under the artistic direction of Charlie Calderon.
We were honored to have coal from a coal mine that has been turned into an art gallery. Participants painted their lamps and then decorated them with the coal.
We will be sharing one of these with coal miners in Grundy County, but that date has not yet been set.
Thanks to the Nashville Predators Foundation empowered by Smile Direct Club for supporting this project. We have learned a lot about the contributions of mining and its significance in our lives and in art.
Through this project we have gone rock climbing, made art related to fossils and engineering, created digital art, visited a mineral museum, made mosaic mineral art and of course created the lamps.
