Borderless Arts Teaching Artist, Bailey Earith, just completed a residency at Pigeon Forge Middle School. ELA students and Sp. Ed students came together to learn about the process of creating a old-time radio drama. ELA respectfully listened to the various instruments the Sp. Ed. Students made and enthusiastically declared: “We’ve got this!” when asked if they had ideas for how the sounds could be used in a story. It was great seeing the two groups interact and support each other.
As a bonus, the Sp. Ed. Teachers said they were going to continue to use the instruments to provide sound effects for library books to encourage listening and creative thinking.
The Borderless Arts residencies are supported through contracts from the TN Department of Education and the the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
