Four 3rd grade classes for a total of 80 students at Union Elementary participated in a Borderless Arts residency focused on folk music.

The students were introduced to 16 early American instruments and their histories. The group made their own folk instrument, played a game where they became the director of an orchestra of their peers, tried out various rhythm instruments and wrote and played their own song which will be part of Water Warriors.

Teapot Diplomat, Torie Summers, accompanied the artist on this workshop and is responsible for all photography.

This program is funded by International Paper, Public Consulting Group (PCG) and in part by a @SUP grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission. This VSA program is provided in 2022-2023 under a contract with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
