The 2019 Spring Teapot Diplomat Workshop Schedule is open. All activities are free, but space is limited and given on a first request basis. Please register soon by contacting me and letting me know which activities you wish to attend. The activities at MTSU are held in conjunction with a student organization called Ambassadors of Borderless Arts that connects to Borderless Arts programs.

2019 Spring Teapot Diplomat Schedule

Saturday, February 2: Water Warriors
10am-noon in the College of Education at MTSU room 164.

5 teams will be created. Each team will work under the direction of a professional artist. Teams will consist of 3 individuals with disabilities from Borderless Arts and 3 MTSU students. The goal will be to create a piece of art out of recycled materials that has a water conservation message. The art must also float. The art will be built and raced on April 6.

Tuesday, February 5: Comedy Show of Samuel Comroe
The comedy show is at 7pm in the Student Union Ballroom at Middle Tennessee State University. The group will meet at 6:30 in the Student Union by the Information desk and go to the show together. You may invite others to also accompany you to this event. The show is free of charge.

Monday, February 11: Valentine’s Event
Middle Tennessee State University BDA room 309 from 4-5pm
This will be a speech class project with Valentine’s related crafts and snacks

Monday, February 18: Cartooning Workshop
Middle Tennessee State University BDA room 309 from 4-5pm
Tim Oliphant will teach cartooning techniques. Mr. Ollie’s cartoons and illustrations have appeared in such publications as The Saturday Evening Post, Woman’s World, American Legion, Boy’s Life, Highlights for Children, Cobblestone, Odyssey, Appleseeds, Dig, and many others. Mr. Ollie has received a School Bell Award from the Tennessee Education Association for his editorial cartooning work on educational issues. He was also named Outstanding Artist in Residence by The Tennessee Arts Commission. Mr. Ollie is a long time member of the National Cartoonists Society

Monday, February 25: Meditation
Middle Tennessee State University BDA room 309 from 4-5pm
Dr. Catherine Crooks from the MTSU Psychology Department will lead the group in meditation exercises.

Monday, March 11: St Patrick’s Day Event
Middle Tennessee State University the Tom Jackson Building from 6-8pm. Event includes crafts, games and competitions with a St Patrick’s Day Theme.

Monday, March 25: Theater Games
MTSU Theater professors have agreed to offer some theater games and activities based on the wishes of the group.

Saturday, April 6: Water Warriors Race
9am-2pm place TBA. Teams will create their floating art and race them.

Monday, April 1: Speech Class project
This will be a speech class project. Focus to be announced as it may be Bats, Easter or Children’s Books

Monday, April 8: Special Event with: Scott McIntyre
Middle Tennessee State University, 4-5pm in the College of Education room 164.
Scott will share his stories through a lecture that will include video of his performances and a chance for questions and photos. From his early days as a classical concert pianist to capturing the hearts of millions of American Idol viewers with his engaging presence and vocal prowess, Scott MacIntyre has never let challenges keep him from achieving his dreams. Having performed with such notable acts as Michael W Smith, CeCe Winans, and Greater Vision, he has traveled the globe inspiring audiences with his music and story.

Blind from birth and a two-time kidney transplant recipient, Scott knows what it means to persevere despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
